As part of the ongoing collaborative efforts between the Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA) and the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) to enhance food access for school-aged children, DTA conducts an annual outreach campaign to raise awareness about the summer meal sites provided through the Summer Eats program (formerly the Summer Food Service Program).

The outreach campaign utilizes text messages, email, and DTA Connect alerts to send information on Summer Eats. The outreach campaign will go to all active SNAP households (NPA and PA) and all active TAFDC-only households with children over age 0 and under age 19 to inform them of the Summer Eats Program.

Clients receiving Summer EBT can still attend Summer Eats locations and have free meals all summer. Clients are not required to complete paperwork or present any identification at Summer Eats sites. Clients are strongly encouraged to utilize both programs.
