OLGT 2022-51: SNAP: P-EBT for Children 0-5 Years for School Year 2021-2022
The Families First Coronavirus Response Act established the option for states to administer Pandemic EBT (P-EBT) benefits. The American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 has allowed states to continue providing P-EBT to children aged 0-5 years old for School Year (SY) 2021-2022.
For children aged 0-5 years old to be eligible for SY 2021-2022 P-EBT benefits the child must be:
-
under the age of 6; and
-
in an active SNAP case in month(s) during SY 2021-2022. This
includes households that received expedited benefits only.
On June 25, 2022 eligible Massachusetts children aged 0-5 years will receive a retroactive P-EBT payment of $37 per month for any month or months from September 2021 through November 2021 that they were in an active SNAP household. The remaining monthly payments for December 2021 through February 2022, and March 2022 through June 2022 will be issued on September 25, 2022. These P-EBT benefits may differ from the June 25th payment as payments rates for the subsequent periods will be determined by the state’s Child and Adult Care Food Program (CAFCP) data available at a later time.
