OLGT 2019-05: TAFDC – Disability Exemptions and Returned Disability Supplements

Clients who return Disability Supplements to the TAO timely and have their documents marked on BEACON as Received by DES prior to the exemption expiration date will maintain their exemption status.
 
Some TAFDC clients are having their exemption status changed to nonexempt because the “Received by DES” date occurred after the medical exemption status passed, even though the client returned the form timely.   Central Office is aware of this issue and is looking to have BEACON functionality changed in February.  
 
The change would allow clients to keep their medical exemption if the date the Supplement was returned to DTA was prior to the end of their medical exemption Expiration date.
