Hello all, and happy Thursday! A few updates:
MassHealth Webinars on Redeterminations:
The MA Health Care Training Forum (MTF) is hosting a webinar regarding the April 1, 2023 end of the MassHealth continuous coverage protection, and MassHealth's redetermination campaign (i.e. the unwinding). Read the email below for more details, and the registration link to attend the webinar at 11am on Feb 7, 8, or 9.
End of Public Health Emergency:
Recall that the end of the MassHealth continuous coverage protection is no longer tied to the end of the PHE- the end date for the continuous coverage protection is still April 1, 2023.
Read here for more about what the end of the PHE means for MassHealth.
Welcome Kate Walsh - New EOHHS Secretary:
Governor Healey has appointed Kate Walsh as the new secretary of the Executive Office of Health and Human Services. Secretary Walsh will be entering the role after 13 years as the CEO of Boston Medical Center. The
Boston Globe reportsthat she'll start on March 1, 2023, and that until then, Mary Beckman will continue to serve as Acting Secretary before moving into a position as senior advisor to Secretary Walsh. Read more about Kate Walsh's appointment and impressive background in the
Healey Administration's press release.
Meanwhile, MassHealth members are still protected from loss of coverage. Please let us know of any clients or patients who have been involuntarily terminated. We are particularly interested in people who are terminated after they have completed a renewal form or reported a change. Please email Vicky or Kate if you have examples of this: vpulos@mlri.org and ksymmonds@mlri.org

MassHealth 2023-2024 Member Eligibility Redeterminations
|
Session Description:
In March 2020, the federal government declared a public health emergency (PHE) due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In response to the PHE and consistent with federal continuous coverage requirements, MassHealth put protections in place that prevented members’ MassHealth coverage from ending during the COVID-19 emergency. When continuous coverage requirements end on April 1, 2023, MassHealth will return to our standard annual eligibility renewal processes. In preparation, MassHealth is working with the Massachusetts Health Connector, Health Care For All, and other partners to make sure that members are prepared.
This webinar will highlight key tools and resources members and our community partners can access to ensure that we can reach members when it is time for their renewal.
After attending this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Explain to MassHealth members ways they can update their contact information
- Describe the MassHealth redetermination process
- Describe key focus areas for preparing for redeterminations
Please note, we will review the same information during each webinar sessions. Please register today to reserve your spot.
2/7 from 11-12pm
2/8 from 11-12pm
2/9 from 1-2pm
