Summer EBT - how to get help when can't get through hotline

This eblast is focused on families who got Summer EBT cards - issued to families who were not on SNAP or DTA cash benefits when Summer EBT was issued.

Please continue to refer to this MLRI slide deck for up to date information on Summer EBT, including the information below. And, DTA's resources are at Mass.gov/SummerEBT

How to PIN Summer EBT card & get help when caller can't get through the Summer EBT hotline

To PIN the Summer EBT card:
  • Client needs the last 4 digits of the case number DTA assigned to the family's case. DTA put the case number in the upper right corner of Summer EBT notices mailed to families.
    • The first notice, the Welcome notice, was mailed in July.
    • DTA is mailing out a second notice, called an approval notice, soon. See DTA alert on Mass.gov/DTAIf you need your case number, please refer to the top right corner of the notice DTA mailed you. DTA is mailing out another notice soon. This new notice will include your case number. Look for it in the mail."
If family does not have the case number because they do not have a Summer EBT notice:
  • Call Summer EBT hotline - 855-425-8770.
  • If they can’t get through (call volume has been very high and many callers are not able to get through right now): Fill out MLRI's form here. MLRI will pass this information along to DTA.
We know this has been extremely frustrating for families who don't have and need their case number. We hope some families will start to get the approval notices in the mail soon. And, we hope DTA will be able to set up some sort of alternative option to the hotline when it's extremely difficult to get through for help.

MLRI's number one goal right now is to make sure families don't get frustrated and give up on Summer EBT! And, just as importantly, please continue encouraging families who got Summer EBT cards to apply for SNAP to connect to year round food benefits!
