Reminder: Food Security Listening Session with Congressman Jim McGovern, June 27th, 10AM - Still time to sign up by 5 PM today!

FoodSNAP

Just a short reminder about Monday’s Listening Session on Food Security issues with Congressman Jim McGovern, from 10 to 11:30AM. This session is to gather more testimony and recommendations from Massachusetts residents with lived expertise, which will be provided to the White House.

Community organizations are welcome to register and listen in, but priority for speaking is given to persons with lived expertise.  Oral testimony will be transcribed and sent to the White House. We have a Spanish language translator providing simultaneous translation, but we need to know by 2 PM today if other languages are needed.

MLRI, Coalition for a Healthy Greater Worcester and Equitable Spaces are co-hosting this event. We’ve had a short window but grabbed the moment because: the 6 White House sessions were oversubscribed and did not provide enough time and space for persons with lived expertise; the White House imposed a July 15th deadline for all testimony and recommendations (that will be released in a report in September); and we needed to coordinate this given the July 4th holiday and McGovern’s schedule.

That said, there’s a robust list of people signed up to speak!

  • Attached is a flier in English and Spanish announcing the June 27th Listening Session.
  • Here is the Google Form for persons to pre-register, request translation and other support. You will receive a confirmation email with the Zoom link.

Again, if you are not a person with lived expertise, you are welcome to register and listen in.

There are still a number of ways for you to have input including sending your recommendations directly to the White House Conference staff HERE (scroll down to bottom of webpage) or send written testimony directly to the WH Conference staff.  See also FRAC information and resources  on the White House Conference.
