No Coalition mtg in Nov, 12/6 next meeting & other updates

FoodSNAP
We hope you have a very good holiday week with family and friends. Our next Coalition meeting will be December 6 from 10-11:30. Here is the Zoom link for the 12/6 meeting (note it is a different link from our normal 4th Tuesday meetings!). There is NO Coalition meeting in November!

A couple of updates below.

Excess tax revenue refunds do not count for DTA benefits

DTA clarified with staff and in the DTA Frequently Asked Questions page here that the excess tax revenue refunds - also called "Chapter 62F refunds" - do not count for SNAP, TAFDC, or EAEDC. Households do not need to tell DTA about these benefits. And, a reminder there is no asset test for TAFDC or EAEDC, and there is no asset test for SNAP in Massachusetts (except for in extremely limited and unique circumstances).

USDA's Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) posts resources for immigrant families

FNS recently created a single landing page with a host of resources on federal nutrition programs including SNAP and WIC for non-citizen families. We are thankful the Biden Administration recognizes the need in our immigrant communities, and is seeking to reassure people they can safely apply for and get SNAP for themselves if they are eligible or on behalf of eligible family members (including US Citizen kids). The introduction to the page states: "If you are a non-citizen, you and your family members may be eligible to participate in several programs operated by the Food and Nutrition Service (FNS). We hope you explore the programs and resources below to find access to nutritious meals for yourself and your loved ones." We couldn't agree more!
