This pamphlet, adapted from National Center for Law and Economic Justice materials, discusses the legal obligation to make agency websites accessible to people with disabilities, to make any online application forms and process accessible, to modify agency policies and practices when necessary to ensure accessibility, the obligation to ensure that telephone communication with individuals with disabilities is effective, and the obligation to use automated phone systems that are accessible to and usable by people with disabilities. The pamphlet discusses applicable and relevant law and provides examples of how legal obligations apply in the contect of modernized public benefits programs.
