MLRI Comments on MassHealth Draft Language Access Plan
Date:
Attached are MLRI comments on MassHealth's Draft Language Access Plan. The Medicaid agency is required by law to provide meaningful access to its services to individuals who are not proficient in English. A language access plan should asses the language needs of the eligible population and include a blueprint of how the agency will meet the meaningful access requirement. Since 2010, a state executive order has required state agencies to have language access plans. MLRI's comments provide an overview of what is required under applicable law, assesses the language services MassHealth provides now and make recommendations for improving access to services.
