In the Matter of AR, FH# 2017-0355

Affirmed - DCF had reason cause to find neglect against mother for leaving the children unsupervised for extended periods of time. The child reported to her guidance counselor that she was worried about what to do in case of an emergency while looking after her little brother when her mother could not be reached. This statement was corroborated by the school and maternal aunt and was considered credible in spite of the child later recanting the statement. DCF also considered Appellant’s admittance to staying out late past children’s bedtime when the Appellant’s arrival time was unknown.
