Letters to Congress on CHIP and the AHCA
Attached are two recent letters signed by Gov Baker. One letter dated May 11, 2017 is from the National Governor's Association, co-signed by Gov Baker as vice chair of the Health & Human Services Committee to Congressional leaders urging them to reauthorize funding for the Children's Health Insurance (CHIP) program for another 5 years. CHIP funding is scheduled to end Sept. 30,2017. The other letter dated May 19 is from the Governor to the Senate Finance Committee regarding the negative impact of the House-pased American Health Care Act in Mass., urging the Senate not to pass any bill that threatens existing health coverage or makes it less affordable, urging funding for cost-sharing reduction subsidies needed to stabilize the individual markets, but also endorsing greater flexibilty for states.
