Friday's post-Election Coalition meeting, HIP rally 11/13, DTA Nov. updates

Dear all,

While some of the national dynamics are not yet settled, we know many Coalition members are deeply concerned about the impact last night’s election could have on SNAP and anti-poverty, anti-hunger programs. Please join this Friday, 11/8, from 10-11 AM  for a special post-election Coalition meeting for partners to gather and discuss. Zoom link here

For today, one thing is clear to us and is no different today than yesterday - for many years Massachusetts advocates, our federal delegation, and stakeholders have stood united against cuts to SNAP and anti-poverty programs. We know this network will continue our track record of standing strong against threats to the safety net.

In the days ahead take good care of yourself, get time in the sunshine, and spend time with loved ones. We hope to see you virtually on Friday.

In solidarity,

Message from MA Food System Collaborative about HIP rally on 11/13

There will be a rally on the State House steps starting at 10 am on Wednesday, November 13th to stop the proposed HIP cut. This will be like a mini HIP lobby day - we will rally and hold a press availability on the steps (image of the steps on Beacon St in Boston attached), and then head inside to meet with legislators and the Governor's administration to tell them to stop the cut and fully fund HIP. PLEASE RSVP HERE. If you are a HIP farmer, HIP community partner, or HIP consumer and are interested in speaking at the rally about how these cuts will affect you, please respond to Becca Miller, Policy Director at MA Food System Collaborative, directly - rebecca@mafoodsystem.org

Also, GBH published a story about HIP, the Eagle Tribune (in the Merrimack Valley) did as well, and the Boston Globe editorial board published an article about HIP. Please share these articles on social media and with your legislators.
