Link to information about Earned Income Tax Credit Programs (both federal and state) on Massachusetts state website, including a link to find someone to help you prepare your return for free.

Also attached is a poster with information about the EITC.  For 2012, you qualify if:

  • You worked and earned income in 2012, and
  • You have a valid social security number.

If your family has no qualifying children and you earned less than $19,190 you can get up to $546. 

If your family has one qualifying child and you earned less than $42,130 you can get up to $3,644. 

If your family has two qualifying children and you earned less than $47,162 you can get up to  $6,021.

If your family has three or more qualifying children and you earned less than $50,270 you can get up to  $6,775.

Qualifying and credit amounts are based on a married couple jointly filing their federal and state returns; alimony and child support do not count towards income.
