On October 6, 2021, the U.S. Department of Education announced a new limited waiver opportunity for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Program. Civil legal aid staff borrowers may receive credit for past payments that would not otherwise qualify for PSLF. Under the limited waiver, prior payments made on federal student loans will count as qualifying payments towards PSLF, regardless of loan type, repayment plan, or whether the payments were made in full or on time.
