MA Office of Health and Human Services (EOHHS)
EOHHS is the largest Commonwealth secretariat and its work touches the lives of all Massachusetts residents. It includes several agencies that serve children and adults with disabilities including: Dept of Mental Retardation (DMR); Dept of Mental Health (DMH); Commission for the Blind (MCB); and Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (MCDHH). Services from these agencies are provided in addition to those offered by school districts. The agencies serve some children and as part of transition planning, schools should refer students with severe disabilities to an adult agency at least two years before the student will leave school - this is called a 688 referral. More information on 688 is available in the Education category under Students with Disabilities - Transition. Another EOHHS agency, the Dept of Youth Services (DYS) serves youth involved with the court system who are placed in state custody. Information about DYS is under Juvenile Justice.Sub-Categories
